GENESIS G70 VS INFINITI Q50 - HOW DO THEY COMPARE?
Genesis G70![]() | INFINITI Q50![]() |
The G70 is the third sedan from Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand. Built on the same rear- or all-wheel-drive platform as the Kia Stinger, the Genesis G70 is grabbing attention in the near-luxury compact sports sedan segment. Here we compare it to the more established Infiniti Q50.
Both the Genesis G70 and the Infiniti Q50 give you the exhilarating power and nimble handling that you'd expect from a sports car in this class, and the Infiniti Red Sport 400 is actually the only car in the competitive set with an engine that provides more Horsepower than the G70.
That said, the Genesis G70 beats out the Infiniti Q50 when you look at the items on your must-have comfort and convenience list. For example, heated front and rear seats come standard on the G70; the Q50 offers heated front seats, but leaves your back seat passengers in the cold. For hot summer days, the G70 provides air conditioned front seats as a standard feature. Infiniti doesn't offer this feature at all on the Q50. Have cargo that needs to be transported from here to there? The standard rear seats on the G70 fold down to make room; the rear seats on the Q50 remain upright no matter how much you wish they didn't. And if you've got kids, you'll notice that the power windows on both cars come standard with locks to prevent children from operating them. But with the G70 you can still open and close all of the windows from the driver's seat controls, while in the Q50 once that lock is engaged nobody can open or close those windows at all.
Other "comfort and convenience"-related areas in which the G70 shines include the heads-up display (the G70 offers this, the Q50 does not), the ability to use regular unleaded gas instead of the premium required by the Q50, and Genesis' approach to scheduled maintenance. While Infiniti Q50 doesn't come with any covered maintenance at all, every G70 comes standard with 3 years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance-all without requiring you to ever set foot in the service center.
